Integrated Programme in Management (IPM): IIMs; IPM Colleges, Fees, Placements

As explained above, IPM stands for the Integrated Programme in Management (IPM). It is a five-year programme in management offered by IIM Indore and others. The programme is aimed at students who have passed out of class 12th / Higher Secondary or equivalent.

So, who can study at IPM program? What is IPM Eligibility Criteria? Candidates satisfying the following criteria are eligible to apply for IIM IPM.

Minimum 60% in Std. X and Std. XII - General and NC-OBC Category

Maximum age limit for General and NC-OBC Category is 20 years, candidate should have been born on or after August 01, 2002.

Candidate should have passed Standard XII/HSC or equivalent examination in 2020, 2021 or appearing in 2022.

Applicants pursuing their X and/or XII standard from international schools affiliated to foreign Board’s like IGCSE and IB can also apply.

Selection process for IPM offered by IIMs is simple and straight forward. The candidates are selected on the basis of overall performance in Aptitude Test (AT) like IPMAT and Personal Assessment (PA). IPM Admission process is explained step by step.  

Stage 1: Candidates satisfying minimum eligibility criteria should submit their application online on institute websites

Stage 2: Based on the applications received, candidates satisfying minimum eligibility criteria will be called for IPMAT and other Aptitude Tests, which are conducted across various cities in the country. There are three sections in the Aptitude Test namely Quantitative Ability (Multiple Choice Question-MCQ), Quantitative Ability (Short Answer Question-SA) and Verbal Ability (Multiple Choice Question-MCQ).

Stage 3: In this stage, the eligible pool for Personal Assessment (PA) is created considering only the candidates having positive raw scores and a minimum mark in each of the three sections of Aptitude Test.

Stage 4: Sufficient number of candidates are shortlisted and invited for Personal Assessment round for each category (General, EWS, NC-OBC, SC, ST and PWD/DA).

Stage 5: Final Selection.  Category wise merit list will be generated. IIM Indore generates this list based on Composite Score (CS), as mentioned below:

The five year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) has emerged as one of the most sought after career oriented management programme with great learning experience after class 12. Besides the students opting for IPM need not worry about admission in Post graduation as after completing the three years, they are automatically promoted to MBA programme without worrying for CAT, XAT or other MBA entrance test. Most of the top B-schools accept scores of the well established IPM Entrance exams. These IPM entrance exams are conducted by IIM Indore, IIM Rohtak, National Testing Agency for admission in IPM programmes offered by IIMs, IIFT, NALSAR, TAPMI and other Institutes. IIM Indore, one of the top six IIMs in India, was the first IIM to launch the 5 year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) as early as in 2011. IIM Indore Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) offers opportunity to earn BBA degree plus MBA degree from IIM Indore for the young students who have passed class 12 or are appearing in class 12 in 2023. IPM is a combination of 3 years undergraduate degree + 2 years MBA degree programme. The programme is meant for young students who have managerial and leadership aspirations. IPM carries the IIM Indore brand ensuring good career growth in management career. After 3 years of study schedule, the IPM students become the part of IIM Indore MBA/PGP batch leading to high placements. IPM at IIM Indore also offers exit option after completion of 3 years with bachelor’s degree -  Bachelor of Arts (Foundations of Management). Those who continue for next two years also and complete the 5 year IPM programme are awarded Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree by IIM Indore. The IPM Placements at IIM Indore are conducted alongwith its MBA programme and are at par with its flagship programme. 

IIM Ranchi joined IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak, and had launched multidisciplinary IPM programme with integrated BBA+MBA degree in 2021. IIM Ranchi is the fifth IIM to have entered the Undergraduate management education segment. IIM Ranchi Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) has an intake of 120 IPM Seats. From the academic session 2023-24, IIM Ranchi will accept only IPMAT exam score for 5 year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) admissions and will not accept SAT score or any other entrance exam score. Students who have passed class 12 or are appearing, are eligible to apply for admission. The final selection process consists of PI round for the shortlisted candidates based on IPMAT score. 

IIM Rohtak launched its 5 Year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) for the students who have completed their class XII with an aim to develop managerial and leadership skills among the young students. On successful completion of the IPM programme, IIM Rohtak will award dual degree BBA + MBA to the students. Admission to IIM Rohtak Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) is through the IPM Aptitude Test conducted by IIM Rohtak. 

From the academic session 2022-23, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) one of the top B-schools in India, has launched 5-year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) at its new Kakinada campus in Andhra Pradesh. This makes IIFT another top management institute to enter the undergraduate management education segment. IIFT Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) offers 40-60 Seats for its IPM programme. IIFT accepts IPMAT exam score, conducted by IIM Indore for IPM admission.

TAPMI, the T. A. Pai Management Institute, Manipal one of the highly ranked and preferred management institute with AACSB and AMBA Accreditation, launched 5 year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) from the academic session 2023-24, leading to award of dual degree – BA (Foundation in Management) and MBA.
