Going on a Taj Mahal trip is the highlight of any India tour. It is often referred to as the most stunning building in the world it is the Taj stands out among Agra's shimmering haze as if it were a magnificent mirage. The Taj is the most well-known Indian structure and was built by Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved third wife, Mumtaz Mahal who passed away in childbirth. It's not a church or mausoleum but a palace. The Taj required years of work and the support of 20,000 people to construct. Unfortunately, after its completion at the end of the construction, the Shah was dismissed by his son who sentenced him through the rest of his life in prison as he gazed at his beloved creation out of his cell window in Agra. After his death the Shah was buried along with Mumtaz to be buried in the Taj. In the present, millions of tourists go to the Taj each year.
